5 Pine Rd.
Outaouais, J0X 2P0
The lake house is situated on two acres of pristine forest on the shores of Hahn Lake, an hour northwest of Gatineau and only minutes from Shawville, a charming town of five thousand. With 300 feet of waterfront and fully fenced, the property is accessed by a single-user, gated road, thus ensuring privacy and security.
The house is a two-storey cape cod design with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a partially finished basement with wine room, and an over-sized double-car garage and possibility for 2 more bedrooms. From the large back deck, one enters the spacious vestibule and sunroom with a view of the lake and a smaller front deck. A fully glassed-in veranda runs the length of the cottage front.
In planning our home, we sought to create a welcoming, easy-living environment for year-round entertainment of friends and family, as well as a cozy, intimate getaway that reflects our interests and our passions. With all the amenities of a modern home, it exudes warmth and a sense of history from the three-hundred year old pine flooring reclaimed from the Ottawa River to the antiques and reproductions throughout each room.
Hahn Lake is a wonder. With no motors having been permitted for the past fifty years, the naturally spring-fed water is filtered through many feet of sandy soil allowing rainbow, speckled and brown trout to thrive. Catching a seven pounder on a fly rod is an experience! The fish can grow to this size due in part to the rich diet of fresh-water snails covering the lake bottom. Closer to shore, the bass can be seen flipping and jumping and are lots of fun to catch at the end go the dock with the grandchildren.
If you happen to enjoy four-wheeling or snow mobiles, there are hundreds of kilometres of trails to explore in the region. Adjacent to the Otter Lake area, is the Pontiac ecological zone for camping, fishing, hunting etc. Forty minutes from Mont Ste. Marie.
Although gas motors are prohibited, electric fishing motors are allowed, as are kayaks, canoes, paddle boats etc. The result is that even on the busiest summer days, the only sounds to be heard are bird song, splashing swimmers, the occasional WHOOP from a successful fisherman and the clink of ice-cubes in a drink. peace and quiet…perfect! This is a very precious lake.
Everything inside except personal belongings.
